Soundboards rebuilt, sponsor management, and more

Published September 14, 2026 · Greg Gibbs, founder

School is back in session and the fall sports season is officially underway. First whistles have blown, first rundowns have been announced, and we've been heads-down shipping the features you asked for all summer. Here's what's new, what's changing, and what's coming next at Press Box Toolkit.

We also know things break at the worst possible moment. If you need help building a game, importing rosters, organizing your audio, setting up sponsors, or just talking through how your game day runs, we're happy to help. Drop us an email and we'll find a convenient time. There's no cost and no catch.

New this month

We've released nearly 100 updates since the July newsletter. Most of them started as a note from one of you. Here are the big ones:

What's new in September: soundboards rebuilt, sponsor management, rundown templates, live variables, scores in the rundown, emergency plans, and two new sports

Soundboards, rebuilt

Every game gets its own soundboard now, split into sections by phase. Each trigger carries its own volume, ducking, fades, and loop settings, and one trigger can auto-play the next with a crossfade. No more hunting through a single shared audio library. You upload your files right where you use them.

Sponsor management

Set your sponsorship levels and how often each sponsor should be read, and PBT spreads those reads evenly across the game and places them in your rundown for you. A live panel tracks the tally as you go, and every read is logged, so when a sponsor asks what they got, you can hand them an actual report.

Rundown templates

Build your show once and reuse it all season. Templates store school, mascot, and venue as placeholders and fill them in automatically from whatever game you import into.

Live variables and auto-filled scores

Drop a variable like {{home}}, {{visitor}}, or {{venue}} into any task or sponsor read and it fills itself in. Enter the score at the end of each quarter or period and your announcer scripts fill in the blanks themselves. There's also a Next Home Game Promo preset ready to go.

Emergency plans and handoff

Emergency contacts, procedures, and ready-to-read PA announcements all live in the app now. And if you can't make a game, the new Hand Off button emails a complete backup to whoever is covering for you.

Two new sports

Flag Football and Softball, across all six apps.

Plus better name pronunciations from a real pronunciation dictionary, team colors on your game-day screens, at-a-glance readiness indicators so you know what still needs setup, and a long list of iPad fixes.

Heads up: Spotify support ends Nov 1

To avoid having our users violate Spotify's terms of service, we're retiring the Spotify integration, and Spotify triggers will stop working on November 1, 2026. You can't add new ones as of now, and existing ones will be removed at the sunset date.

The good news is that the soundboard triggers have been greatly improved, with per-trigger volume, fades, looping, and crossfades. If you have Spotify buttons in your setup, reach out and we'll help you move that audio over before your next home game.

What's happening behind the scenes

Georgia Tech CREATE-X Demo Day

On September 3, Press Box Toolkit participated in the Georgia Tech CREATE-X Demo Day alongside more than 100 other ventures from the 2026 Summer Startup Launch cohort. We shared PBT with numerous attendees, including VIPs like Georgia's Secretary of State and the former Chancellor of the University System of Georgia.

Thank you to everyone who came out and cheered us on. Completing Startup Launch is a huge milestone, and it is a big part of what turns PBT from a side project into something built to last.

Still looking for founding pilot partner schools

We're partnering with a small number of schools as founding partners, and we have a few spots left.

It's simple: you use Press Box Toolkit free all season. In return, you tell us what works, what doesn't, and what's missing. Your feedback will directly shape the product direction.

Founding partners will also get the best pricing when a paid version launches. If your school is interested, please reach out to us. There's no cost and no obligation. Join us!

Spread the word

If you know another announcer, DJ, or athletic director who could use Press Box Toolkit to run game day like a pro, please pass this along. Word of mouth from people who actually do this work means more than anything we could say.

Thanks for being an early adopter. Have a great season, and let's make every game run smoothly!
