Fall is in full swing. Football is heading into the playoff stretch, softball, volleyball, and field hockey are wrapping up, and basketball and hockey are right around the corner. We've had our heads down shipping again, and this month's updates came straight from announcers who were calling games when they sent us a note.
As always, if you need help, drop us an email and we'll find a convenient time. There's no cost and no catch.
New this month
We've shipped more than 60 features and fixes since the September newsletter. Here are the big ones.
Your apps now talk to each other
Until now, each Press Box app kept its own data. Now you can send rosters, rundowns, soundboards, schedules, sponsors, and announcements from one app to another, either as a file download or an emailed link. The recipient taps Open in Press Box, signs in, and lands on the right screen with everything loaded.
- Send to PA: the producer sends the game script to the announcer with variables filled in and sponsor reads written out.
- Send to DJ: a Pro soundboard goes to the DJ with its audio included.
- Rosters, schedules, and sponsors move between Pro, AD, BC, and Roster Manager.
- Booster club announcements (50/50 raffle, concessions specials, halftime) land in the right game's rundown, tagged Booster club.
- Sponsor read reports go from the press box to the booster club, showing each sponsor as "12 of 16 reads," with a printable sheet to hand a sponsor at renewal time.
Sending updated data never creates duplicates. A review screen shows what's new, what changed, and what's gone, and your own edits are kept. Nothing is saved until you tap Import, and Undo puts everything back.
Live scoring in Press Box Pro
Pro's live view has a new Scoring tab, built from feedback after a field hockey game, a soccer game, and requests from a pro hockey PA announcer who was going live that weekend.
- Goal log for soccer, field hockey, and ice hockey, with scorer, assists, period, and time. Pro gives you the announcer read with pronunciations and keeps a running score.
- Football scoring plays for tackle and flag, with a ready-to-read call for every touchdown, field goal, and safety.
- Shots on goal, penalty logs, and season goal counts beside each player's name.
- Copy summary gives you a spoken scoring recap for halftime or the final.
- Logged goals and plays fill in the end-of-period score automatically, and possession flips after a score.
Also new
- Full screen roster with S, M, L, and XL text for reading across the booth, plus an offense/defense view that shows the right players for each possession.
- Field hockey is now a full sport in Pro, and hockey gets goalies-first lineups and simple D and F positions.
- Starting lineups sound right: every sport now reads class year ("a senior, number 3...") and each sport introduces players in the proper order.
- Home and away games: the Next Home Game promo now skips road games.
- Game Checklist in Press Box AD: turn templates into dated game-day tasks and send assignments to your staff by text or email.
- More reliable everywhere: audio now saves on iPhones and older PCs that used to refuse it, and errors that used to fail silently now tell you what happened.
Keep the requests coming. Most of this month's list started as a note from one of you!
Reminder: Spotify support ends Nov 1
Spotify buttons and tasks stop working on November 1, 2026. If you still have Spotify items in your setup, replace them with uploaded audio before your next game. The rebuilt soundboards support per-button volume, fades, looping, and crossfades.
What's happening behind the scenes
Milestones
Georgia Tech sports media panel
On Friday, October 23, Press Box Toolkit founder Greg Gibbs will join photographer and filmmaker Travis Ellison and Atlanta United commentator Jason Longshore for Sports & Entertainment Media: Inside Photography, Broadcasting & Sports Media at Georgia Tech's Scheller College of Business. We'll talk about how sports media is changing and how the people behind the scenes bring fans closer to the action.
On the mic at the CP Football World Cups
This month, Greg is volunteering as PA announcer for the IFCPF 2026 CP Football World Cups, the men's and women's world championships for footballers with cerebral palsy and related conditions. National teams from around the world are competing at the Arthur Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville, Georgia, and the tournament wraps up on Saturday, October 24. If you're in the Atlanta area, it's world-class soccer and well worth the trip. Tickets are available through the IFCPF website.
PA Announcer Spotlight Series
Every press box has a story. We're launching a series to spotlight the announcers who make game day happen, from high school stadiums to college arenas to the pros. How did you get started? What's your favorite call? What's the one thing every new announcer should know?
If you'd like to be featured, or want to nominate someone, email Greg at greg@pressboxtoolkit.com.
Spread the word
If you know another announcer, DJ, or athletic director who could use Press Box Toolkit to run game day like a pro, please pass this along. Word of mouth from people who actually do this work means more than anything we could say. They can also check out our website and 30-second video.
Thanks for being an early adopter. Have a great rest of the season, and let's run game day like a pro!
